METAPHYSICS & INNER ALCHEMY
the true power and purpose of perimenopause!
HELLO, I’M TANISHKA
Like most women, I was unprepared at 42 for the start of perimenopause. I didn’t realise that the vertigo I’d started to experience was part of ‘the change’…or the joint & nerve pain. Now at 54, after 12 years of perimenopause I’m healthier and fitter than ever before!
The word, ‘Meno’ means moon, but ever since the book, Feminine Forever, (funded by the pharmaceutical industry) was published in 1966, menopause has been ‘treated’ as a medical condition.
If you’ve started to notice changes in your body & feel resistant to hormone replacement therapy & want to know what the alternative is…join us to discover the shamanic approach to perimenopause!

LAURA STAFFORD RUSSELL
Yoga
Laura has practiced yoga for over 30 years. She is passionate about yoga, as it helped her to transform her life, overcoming life-threatening health challenges at age 47 years old when she completed her yoga teacher training (250 hrs) in the hinterlands of Queensland Australia. A Scottish native who grew up in the New Forest, she connected deeply with the elemental realms. She has shared her love for yoga in Australia, France, and led yoga at Tanishka’s retreat in Ibiza and now, Morocco.
Laura is also a Reiki channel, body intuitive, and Zen Thai Shiatsu masseuse. She blends these skills to promote healing. Passionate about therapeutic outcomes, she utilizes essential oils and champions the body’s divine healing capabilities through the right environment, movement, and light—guiding professional women beyond pain to rekindle love and wellness within.
FRANÇOISE BARKAT
Ayurveda
Françoise has practiced yoga for 30 years and taught for 16 years. She first practiced yoga for her own well-being, her physical and mental health, to protect herself against stress. Then she went to India to study this formidable science of health and well-being at its source. She was fortunate to be trained by Rahi Santhanam, a student of Krishnamacharya and Desikachar.
Her transmission of Yoga is that of this lineage. She is also certified in Power Yoga, Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Therapeutic Yoga. She is certified in Ayurveda by Dr.David Frawley. She continues to train and travel to India every year. She is also passionate about agro-ecology and the connection with the elements, and has established her yoga studio in the middle of an educational garden.
She is happy to welcome you there….
YOHAN MARTINEZ
Qi Gong
I explore Qi Gong as a poetry of movement, a quest for fluidity and release, where each gesture becomes the breath of the universe. Through this ancestral practice, I weave a secret bond with the love that flows through all things, revealing the hidden beauty of the tiniest dust to the most distant star.
Its art is a whisper, a delicate tremor that invites feeling rather than understanding, grounding while rising, opening to the subtle dance of Qi. Seeking the perfect balance between inside and outside, the visible and the invisible.
Yohan has practiced QiGong for 10 years and began teaching Qi Gong a year ago.
JASMINE WHEAT
Dance
Jas is a nomadic artist and DJ. I create soulful tattoos, handmade clothing and art and have a deep passion for the power of dance and music as a modality for transformation and healing. Inspired by my own journey of healing and awakening, overcoming depression and anxiety, I now create alcohol-free dance events that provide a safe space for people to to express themselves freely, supported by the creative elements of nature. I curate dance journeys designed to take people into a state of transcendence on the beach under the stars, while remaining grounded and connected. I do this by incorporating the ancient medicine of fire, a natural vortex for shamanic release and transmutation.

From Women Who’ve Experienced Tanishka’s Retreats
“I traveled around the world to meet my favourite female hero, inspiration and Goddess…
Tanishka was no less than I expected and hoped for, such a wise, still humble, honest, grounded, caring, sharing, creative and funny!
A divine being and facilitator! She guided us all through our light and shadow sides with love, respect and grace..
To experience her gifts, lessons and passion is highly and truly, heartfelt recommended.
I’m forever grateful for this life changing event xxx”
Helena Moe Hoines
“My experience of Tanishka’s retreat was transformational.
The processes brought me to a much deeper understanding of myself and allowed me to drop the masks and facades I had been holding.
The connection back with myself has brought such an inner calm and renewed love of myself and others.
To be in an environment where we are held to journey deep within and allow our own transcendence is so humbling while also holding space for others to journey all they need as well.
A shared experience that has forged lifelong heart connections with new friends I will forever cherish. “
Kylie Mahoney
“I bought One of Tanishka’s books in 2008 it took me ten years to finally be brave enough to go to one of her retreats!
I remember thinking about other women’s responses to her retreats as life changing.
Well I was sceptical at first that the retreat would change my life.
Well I was amazed at what changes in myself have happened since the retreat!!
It is truly a life changing experience! And I absolutely can’t praise Tanishka and her team enough!
Do yourself a favour and enrol in one of the retreats you won’t be disappointed and you will be a changed person.”
Shelly Lake
“Tanishka’s retreat is the best gift one can give to themselves.
With a background in engineering, I really appreciated the high level of organisation of the retreat schedule and content.
Her teaching material is unique, inspirational and absolutely logical to those with an analytical brain, while she delivers the lessons with humour, authenticity and heart.
She has awakened so much of my soul, via the music that we dance to, the meditation and the yoga.
I enjoyed the balance of active physical activity vs quiet journaling in this retreat. But my absolute favourite part was the processes.
Get ready to get real and get raw. Before the retreat, I was already a healer and have done lots of healing and wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But everyday, Tanishka led me to discover deeper and deeper layers of wounds that needed healing in each of my chakras, and the best part is the friendships and knowing that you are not alone in having these shadow traits.
It was absolutely beautiful to see, that every participant dived right in to the deep end and did the inner work.
It was truly transformational, having self love, knowing self worth, setting boundaries, releasing shame, developing intuition… wow I remember thinking everyday at the retreat was the best day of my life.” So grateful to be initiated by Tanishka.”

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the weather forecast for September in Southern Morocco?
The average high in Agadir, where we’ll be situated is 29ºC/84ºF in September which is perfect for relaxing on the beach.
The weather is pleasant in the evening with temperatures dropping down to 17ºC/62.6ºF. I recommend bringing something warm for the evenings, due to the sea breeze on the coast.
The sea temperature is 21ºC/69.8ºF, which is lovely and refreshing, while humidity’s low.
Do I need travel vaccinations to travel to Morocco?
If you search online you will see various vaccines are indicated for travel to Morocco on websites that are sponsored by the pharmaceutical companies that sell travel vaccines such as this one: https://bewareofthebugs.com/countries/morocco/ A helpful resource worth reading so you are well-informed.
That said, given what I’ve since learned about the ingredients of vaccines I choose not to, and instead excercise common sense to limit exposure.
Given that we’ll be in an area of the country that’s renowned for its tourism, and taking sensible precautions, exposure to communicable diseases is highly unlikely.
Vaccination is a very personal health choice, so do what you feel is right for you and your body.
What cultural customs should I be aware of?
Morocco is a Muslim country, but far more liberal than Arabic countries as it has been a place of trade and pilgrims for millennia.
I usually wear something ‘modest’ to enter the airport just to show respect for their culture – so I wear something that covers my upper arms and knees and isn’t tight-fitting. I don’t wear any head covering.
That said, Morocco was colonised by the French who show little to no regard for Muslim customs when travelling to Morocco so if you don’t feel to dress modestly to enter the airport, it won’t be an issue.
Some Muslim men may avert their eyes to avoid direct eye contact as a matter of respect for you – not because they are being impersonal.
Do locals speak English in Morocco?
Arabic and French are the official languages but in the tourist areas where we’ll be staying, most locals understand and speak some English. I get by quite easily with only a handful of word in Arabic and French…with miming and smiling!
I recommend greeting the locals in their mother tongue; Arabic with the word, “Salam” meaning peace. (Short for Asalam Alaykum meaning peace be upon you.) IT’s worth doing just to see them smile with appreciation.
Is Morocco safe for women travelling alone?
I feel safer in Agadir, Morocco than I do in most Western countries as there is a cultural reverence for women (ironic, given women in the villages spend their days indoors but this is changing amongst the younger generation.)
I walk around at night confidently in the area that we will be staying. Tourist cities like Marakech are less safe for women travelling alone.
While we will be travelling as a group, you have the option to explore the local villages independently and feel safe doing so.
Is the water safe to drink in Morocco?
No, I don’t recommend it. It is safe to use local water if you’re boiling it for cooking or to brew a cup of tea but I use bottled water.
The one time I accidentally drank tap water I contracted giardia (a parasite that resulted in weight loss, nausea and loose stools til I took antibiotics.)
You will be provided with bottled water for drinking and cleaning your teeth.
Do I have to attend all the retreat sessions?
No. You are your own authority figure, so you decide what feels right for you.
I encourage you to attend all sessions, to get the most out of the experience and feel connected with your fellow retreaters.
I have included regular free time in the schedule to allow for integration and down time…but at any stage, if you need more, all I ask is that you let my support team prior to a session commencing if you intend not to attend, know so we know not to wait for you and your approximate whereabouts.
What if my health conditions prevent me from doing yoga?
You will receive a health form to complete once we receive your initial/full payment.
We ask that you complete & return this within 24 hours, so we plan to accommodate everyone’s needs. This includes information such as whether you suffer sleep apnea and pre-existing conditions.
Our yoga instructor, Laura will review your answers and create a program that will help relieve, rather than aggravate pre-existing conditions. She is also gifted at observing your posture to identify what stretches you need to relieve chronic tension.
What medications can I bring to Morocco?
Morocco doesn’t have a list of prohibited medicines, except for narcotics…
but they do advise anyone travelling with prescription medication to ensure that they have a copy of the doctor’s prescription with them and that the quantity of medication carried is within the limits of the prescription.
Will I have wifi / Do I need a SIM card?
There will be wifi at our Airbnb accommodation. However, to ensure connectivity I recommend purchasing a local SIM card on arrival at the airport. from one of the booths. You will see them after you clear the passport control next to the baggage carousel at Agadir airport. Near the currency exchange desks.
INWI is the booth usually selling SIM cards at Agadir airport. I have found Maroc Telcom & Orange to have superior coverage in southern Morocco so if there is an option, go with the latter. For a week, INWI will suffice but do ensure that you check it is working before you exit the airport. As I once discovered it wasn’t and you’re not allowed to re-enter the airport into the arrivals section, once you go through the exit doors.
Do be sure to keep your regular SIM card someone safe in your handbag so you can reinstate it at the end of your trip.
Having your own wifi data will mean you have uninterrupted connection with loved ones.
Do I need a visa to enter Morocco?
Most people can enter Morocco without a visa as a tourist for 90 days. This website allows you to check whether you need a visa: https://www.acces-maroc.ma/#/
Can I use my ATM card in Morocco?
Yes, but I recommend bringing cash in your currency and exchanging it for local Moroccan dirhams on arrival at the airport.
By withdrawing money before you come you’ll also save on international ATM fees.
While you can avoid fees by using ATM cards issued by progressive banks such as Revolut, WISE, Cash Passport or similar debit cards that you load with your currency prior to leaving your home country, in countries like Morocco, cash is king so always plan to have cash in local currency on you.
The local economy survives on tourism and the exchange rate is incredible so do consider tipping locals who grant generous service.
You will need cash for the subsidaries not included in the retreat program (see the what’s not included section on the retreat webpage) as well as to purchase any souvenirs or gifts when we go to the souk.
Morocco is a kingdom so officially we are not permitted to take Moroccan dirham out of Morocco. There’s no system I’ve encountered that enforces this and if you keep your receipt from the Currency Exchange booth you can exchange any remaining local currency back to your currency at the airport before you depart.
