How is your body speaking to you?
Virgo transits are when we focus on what we can do to improve our well being. The major Virgo transits coincide with the changing seasons of Spring and Autumn (Fall) – this is an ideal time to do a health reset with a gentle detoxifying cleanse by eating foods that are easy to digest, aided by ginger to fire up digestion, along with medicinal herb teas, juices, tonics and broths.
The changing seasons are the transition times for the year…when we’re more likely to make big changes or experience big changes thrust upon us. These times are an opportunity to look at what situations and habits in our lives are toxic so we can make adjustments accordingly.
When we detox the body, we also detox emotionally and psychologically, so it’s wise to give ourselves the sacred space to feel and reflect.
The more we detox consciously the less we manifest illness to detox unconsciously. This is why colds and flu are more common during the changing seasons of Spring and Autumn.
A great way of doing that is through having a routine of daily detox-ing. This is a more gentle way to support optimal health on all levels. To do that, consider incorporating these ideas into your morning routine:
-
Drink warm water with lemon juice upon rising each day and drink roasted dandelion root coffee to support elimination of toxins through the liver
-
Consider dry skin brushing* with a horsehair brush or loofa before showering every morning to accelerate detoxing through the skin, the largest organ
-
Exercise is another great way to detox through sweat, replacing mineral salts with coconut water
-
Daily yoga and meditation detoxes the mind and the nervous system supporting physical health and wellbeing
*Skin brushing is an ancient Ayurvedic practice followed by applying cold pressed sesame oil (which doesn’t smell like the cooking oil) and promotes circulation, metabolic rate and good digestion. Great for those who get cold extremities!
If on the other hand you run hot and tend to suffer from heartburn, substitute with coconut oil to moisturise your skin as it has a cooling effect.

Archetypal Energy: The sacred priest / priestess
Lesson: To identify and the need for improvement and implement
The most common mistake people make when introducing a new health routine is they try to do it through will power. This approach is destined to fail as it feels like punishment imposed by the mind that affirms we are bad and in need of improvement. Understandably the immature ego mind rebels by acting out by escalating self-negating behaviours like binge-eating or if more passive-aggressive, resists with self-sabotaging apathy.
One of the best ways to kickstart a new health routine is to inspire yourself with all the benefits you and the planet will gain from you choice. The greater the inspiration, the stronger the commitment. So before starting read online articles, books or watch health docos.
Discipline is one of the positive traits of Virgo. Virgo reminds us our body is a temple, a sacred vessel which houses our soul. From this perspective it’s easy to make positive changes through loving self-awareness.
For true discipline is attained through devoting one’s soul to a practice to serve a higher purpose, rather than mere ‘will power’ which engages only the rational mind. The former inspires us, making it easier to attain and maintain whereas the latter feels like a chore or punishment to attain some ideal of perfection.
Virgo transits are a great time to:
-
Notice how you feel before and after what you eat
-
Review your nutrition and make changes to your diet
-
Write a list of benefits you gain from your addictions and consider how you could achieve the same pay-off’s with healthy choices
