The Year of the Rabbit and What to Expect in 2023

2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. This event occurs every 12 years in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. To make the most of this year it helps to understand the qualities of this animal and element.

Understanding How to Harness the Opportunities of Year of the Rabbit

The Year of the Rabbit is considered lucky and abundant – hence the symbol of the rabbit’s foot that represented fertility. This year is a great time to focus on friendship, increased social awareness, emotional harmony, establishing strong community ties and networks and healing. Why?

The year of the Rabbit is the 4th sign on the Chinese zodiac so its Western zodiac corresponding sign is Cancer, which rules home, family, community and emotional development.

So in 2023 the focus will be on cooperation rather than competition and opportunities to strengthen our interpersonal relationships with those who are family or feel like soul family to us. This is also an ideal year to enhance self-care as a foundation for healthy relations with others.

The Rabbit lunar year encourages a sense of group harmony, long-term planning nurturance of creative projects. This can also be a great time for relocating to find a home that better suits your changing needs.
Year of the Rabbit encourages us to appreciate our incremental growth and how far we’ve come while enjoying the moment while pursuing our goals. Overall, this is a great year to focus on connection and heal our fears that sabotage intimacy while exploring opportunities for growth.

Year of the Rabbit invites us to develop strategies to enhance the quality of our patterns of relating and cultivate a deeper understanding of ourselves. This is a year when trust between friends and couples can deepen immensely so consider scheduling in regular quality time with loved ones and confronting the ways you disconnect and disassociate or isolate yourself as a means of protection.

Embracing the Elemental Energy of 2023

In traditional Chinese medicine and esoteric traditions five elements are observed: metal, wood, water, fire and earth. 2023 is a water year, making this the year of the water rabbit – an event which only occurs every 60 years.

The qualities of the water rabbit are gentleness, adaptability, an amiable temperament but sometimes so adaptive they can be easily influenced by others. Being a water year, the element of love and emotion, this is a year to flow with the opportunities that present for emotional connection while maintaining one’s own centre.
